SOG
Также известен как: Скорость относительно грунта
Определение
Скорость относительно грунта — фактическая скорость судна по дну с учётом течения и дрейфа.
SOG in practice
SOG is your actual speed over the seabed, from GPS. Speed through the water (from the log) is different whenever there is a tidal stream.
With a 2-knot tide against you, a boat doing 6 knots through the water makes only 4 knots SOG. Use SOG for arrival times, and log speed for sail trim and leeway.
Common questions
- Why is my SOG different from the log?
- Tidal stream or current is adding to or subtracting from your speed through the water.
- Which speed do I use for passage planning?
- Plan with boat speed through the water, then add tidal stream vectors to find speed and course over the ground.
