Relèvement
Définition
La direction au compas de votre position vers un objet. Un relèvement constant indique un risque d'abordage.
Relèvement in practice
A bearing is measured in degrees clockwise from north, from 000 to 359. A hand-bearing compass gives a magnetic bearing; convert it to true (by applying variation) before plotting.
Two or three bearings of charted objects crossing on the chart give a position fix. A bearing of another vessel that stays steady while the range closes means a risk of collision.
Common questions
- What is a compass bearing versus a relative bearing?
- A compass bearing is measured from north; a relative bearing from the boat's bow.
- Why does a steady bearing mean danger?
- If the angle to another vessel doesn't change while it gets closer, you are on a collision course (COLREGs Rule 7).
