Cape 31 Gold Cup 2026, Saint-Tropez: Record 28-Boat Fleet
Publicado · Última comprobación octubre de 2026
The first Cape 31 Gold Cup takes place in Saint-Tropez from 12 to 17 October 2026, hosted by the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez. A class-record 28 boats and 212 crew from about 23 nations have entered, with 12 umpired fleet races planned from Wednesday 14 to Saturday 17 October.

A record fleet
The 28 entries beat the class's previous record of 26 boats, set at the 2023 UK National Championship in Lymington. Germany sends the most boats (8), followed by Great Britain (5), with France and Italy on three each. The class's Mediterranean Circuit began only two years ago with six boats.
Who to watch
- Stig: 2025 European Champion and winner of the 2026 Mediterranean Circuit on 10 points.
- La Pericolosa (Christian Schwoerer): 2024 European Champion and winner of the Hyères circuit finale.
- Stella Maris (August Schram): second on the circuit.
- Khumbu (Guy Gillon): 2026 UK National Champion.
- Give Me Five (Adrien and Robin Follin): the home team, and the reason the class came to Saint-Tropez.
The fleet is full of Olympic medallists, among them Croatia's Rio 2016 470 champions Šime Fantela and Igor Marenić (on different boats), Tokyo 2020 470 gold medallist Will Ryan, and Paris 2024 Nacra 17 silver medallist Mateo Majdalani.
How the racing works
Racing is umpired fleet racing under Appendix UF of the Racing Rules of Sailing: umpires on the water rule on incidents as they happen, rather than leaving them for a protest room. Three races are planned each day, with a Corinthian prize for teams with only one professional sailor aboard.
