Rombo de marea

Definición

Símbolo en forma de rombo, en la carta, marcado con las letras A, B, C, etc., que remite a una tabla de direcciones de las corrientes de marea y de sus velocidades en mareas vivas y muertas para cada hora.

Rombo de marea in practice

Each tidal diamond on an Admiralty chart refers to a table showing the tidal stream's direction (in degrees true) and its spring and neap rates (in knots), for every hour from six hours before to six hours after high water at a reference port.

To use one: find how many hours you are from high water at the standard port, read the direction and rates, then interpolate between spring and neap rates for the day's range.

Common questions

How do I read a tidal diamond table?
Find the row for the hour relative to high water, then read the direction (degrees true) and the spring and neap rates.
What is the difference between a tidal diamond and a tidal stream atlas?
A diamond gives exact figures at one point; an atlas shows arrows across a whole area.
