Solent Super Series 2026 Round 1 Results: Cowes
Publicado · Última comprobación octubre de 2026
The fourth Solent Super Series opened at Cowes on 10 and 11 October 2026 with 15 teams. After two races in a breezy westerly on Saturday and a windless Sunday, Dave Richard's J109 Jumping Jellyfish leads on countback from Ian Hoddle's Game On, both on 3 points. The 2025 champions, RORC's Griffin, are third.

Saturday: wind and plenty of it
Racing started and finished on the Island Sailing Club line in the central Solent. A westerly of 14 to 20 knots gave a first race of almost 23 nautical miles. Game On took line honours and won on corrected time by 50 seconds from Jumping Jellyfish.
The second race, over 11.36 miles, saw gusts up to 33 knots. Game On was first home again, but Jumping Jellyfish won on IRC corrected time by 22 seconds, with the Sun Fast 3600 Tigris third. Days like this are where reefing early pays off.
Sunday: no wind, strong tide
Sunday brought almost no wind on big spring tides. The fleet waited ashore until 11:00, and race 3 was abandoned when the tidal window closed around midday. Strong spring tides with little wind are a classic Solent trap: a boat can drift backwards over the ground.
The fleet
The series is raced under IRC by JPK 1030 and 1080s, Jeanneau Sun Fast 3600, 3300 and 3200s, and J109s. Our guide to IRC ratings explains how corrected times let different designs race together.
Next: Yarmouth
Round 2 is on 24 and 25 October 2026: two races on Saturday, a night in Yarmouth Harbour, and a race back to the central Solent on Sunday.
